Gluing Plexiglas parts together is a fairly common operation when working with Plexiglas. For overlap gluing, the area to be glued should be at least 4x the thickness of the sheet. Only then will the connection be strong. It is also necessary to prepare a special adhesive in advance. About the composition of which you can learn from this article.

Ingredients for gluing plexiglass:

  • Dichloroethane – 100 g;
  • Plexiglass chip – 3 g.

If there are no chips left from the previous drilling operation or too few, it is not difficult to make them from unnecessary scraps of Plexiglas. The prepared shavings are poured into a container with dichloroethane, made of ordinary glass. With careful but fairly frequent continuous stirring for half an hour, the shavings should dissolve. Then leave the glue for at least 2 days. The glue should be stirred occasionally during the infusion.

The parts to be glued together are usually lap, butt, tongue and groove or overlap. The areas to be joined must be well finished and fit together very precisely.

Apply the adhesive carefully to both surfaces to be bonded with a brush. It must be applied in the same direction. As a result, the glued surface should be free of air bubbles and accidental small objects or debris.

P.S.: I have tried to illustrate and describe the tips. I hope that at least some of them will be of use to you. But it’s not all you can come up with, so go ahead and check out https://bip-mip.com/
